Penang is famous across Malaysia for its hawker food: smoky wok-fried noodles, rich curries, flaky roti and sweet, icy cendol. We cook those dishes the Penang way, with fresh ingredients, and every one of them is halal.
We opened on Upton Lane in Forest Gate, East London, and now cook in Finsbury Park, North London, too.

Yes. Every dish at both restaurants is halal, with no pork and no alcohol. Penang City Upton Lane is HMC (Halal Monitoring Committee) certified. Penang City Finsbury Park is not separately certified; most of its ingredients come from the same halal suppliers as Upton Lane.
Do you serve alcohol?
No. Both Penang City restaurants are alcohol-free: we don't serve alcohol and we don't cook with it.

We have two restaurants in London: 61 Upton Lane, Forest Gate, London E7 9PB (East London) and 50 Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, London N4 2DW (North London).

Upton Lane: Every day 11am–11pm. Finsbury Park: Every day 12pm–10pm.

Yes, from Penang City Finsbury Park, which delivers to N4, N5, N6 and N7 postcodes nearby. Penang City Upton Lane is open for eating in and collection orders.

What food do you serve?
Malaysian food in the Penang street-food style, with Thai and Chinese influences: nasi lemak, char kuey teow, laksa, beef rendang, roti canai, chicken satay, curries and wok-fried noodles and rice. There are vegetarian dishes too.
Do you have a kids menu?
Yes. Both restaurants have a kids menu, and families are always welcome.
